The company encourages all its employees to participate in a continuous improvement process and provides reasonable time and resources for suggestions, ideas and evaluations to be formulated in order that changes, modifications, additions or capital expenditure proposals can be fully evaluated prior to making a commitment.
Management undertakes to review suggestions for improvements promptly and thoroughly following which, a considered response is given.
All agreed improvements are implemented promptly and a post implementation review takes place to ensure that the improvement has been actioned and is working as was envisaged when agreed.
At DavyMarkham we are constantly seeking new opportunities to improve our quality, production and manufacturing processes whilst building and strengthening department and employee relationships.
We have a vast number of initiatives in place involving the building and ongoing personalised training of key personnel, management, supervisors and team leaders. This is recognised as a fundamental part of a successful Continuous Improvement Program as subsequently the knowledge is clearly communicated and implemented by all staff in various departments.
Throughout DavyMarkham there are several Continuous Improvement teams operating, each tasked with different goals to evaluate improvement methods within specified areas.
Continuous Improvement Activity Team
These ongoing departmental teams are lead by team leaders (usually supervisors) and are facilitated by the Continuous Improvement Manager. Collectively the team brainstorm and exhaust all ideas that would enable departments to become more efficient in their daily processes.
Problem Solving Teams
Highly focused cause and effect teams apply and test problem solving techniques in order to identify and eliminate various errors in quality and production processes.
Outside Organisations
In pursuit of the latest technology and applications, DavyMarkham has formed close relations with local universities and research centres. The receipt of this information enables us to improve many of our manufacturing techniques and processes.
Pre Production Teams
The pre production teams study and decide the best process for the route of major contract components from methods and planning through to quality, fixture and tooling.
Value Engineering Team
This is the amalgamation of the design and production departments. The team improve design for manufacture and provide solutions to manufacturing problems.
Project Teams
Researching into specific projects, carrying out feasibility studies and justifying various improvement ideas.
Journeyman Training
Ongoing training of all production staff in order to reduce downtime.
