DavyMarkham offers a complete design service from concept to final commissioning.

Our team of fully qualified and highly skilled engineers support a wide range of applications and in-house technology. Utilising these latest methods and technologies, they work to support an international customer base, specialising in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and control engineering. Computer Design Modelling & Simulation

Since 1992 DavyMarkham, through its design department, has been able to perform complex analysis using Finite Element Simulation.  This in-house facility enables a range of analyses to be performed.  Our design and methodologies utilise the latest proprietary design software, along with specially developed design tools and the finite element analysis capability.

These include:

  • 3D solid and Shell Type Structures;
  • Seismic and Modal Analysis;
  • Fatigue life Assessment;
  • Thermal Modelling.


Our mechanical design team has the technical skills and experience to provide Systems and Services for a wide range of industries. 

These include:

  • Mining and tunnelling;
  • Civil Construction including moving bridges;
  • Steel and metal processing;
  • Water control, storage and barrier solutions;
  • Power generation including wind power and hydro power;
  • Nuclear - storage and movement;
  • Renewable Energy;

Projects range from value engineering of a single component piece to complete design of complex machinery.


The electrical design team have expertise in a broad range of electrical and control activities, which include:

  • Design, specification and procurement;
  • Motor control centre design;
  • LV and HV switchgear;
  • PLC software systems;
  • Remote control and data logging;
  • Cable installation design;
  • Power distribution;
  • Fault risk analysis; 
  • M&E projects.


Our hydraulic engineers have experience in designing Hydraulic and other fluid related systems for use on equipment supplied throughout the world.  Typical designs incorporate the following features:

  • Precise pressure and flow control;
  • Pump / Motor selection and specification;
  • Circuit design and component selection;
  • Proportional control systems;
  • Closed and open loop hydrostatic drives.

Other types of systems designed include fuel pumping and metering, cooling, lubrication and slurry pumping.  We take pride in providing a professional, reliable and cost effective service of the highest quality and integrity whilst meeting the highest safety standards - safety is our first priority.

Testing and Commissioning

DavyMarkham’s staff have experience of working on a wide range of equipment, which combined with their design background, provides the ideal combination of practical and technical skills necessary for this type of work.  Typical activities include:

  • Shop and site testing and commissioning;
  • Supervision of sub-contract specialists;
  • Production of test schedules;
  • Fault finding;
  • Acceptance tests.
