180 year old, Sheffield-based engineering design and manufacturing specialist, DavyMarkham enters a new era this April as a new management team takes the helm. Following the departure of the company's Managing Director in March 2011, the new team are keen to reinforce it's business as usual at DavyMarkham.

The new management team encompasses DavyMarkham's existing team of Directors, uniting the company's skills in engineering, sales and production with the addition of Andy Howard as Financial Controller. DavyMarkham's Financial Director, Duncan Hay will be staying with the company as Acting Chairman.

John Watson, Director of Production, has been with DavyMarkham for over 20 years, having joined as a lathe turner. With valuable shop floor experience John will provide knowledge on the company's strategic objectives in relation to on-time delivery, contract performance and profitable trading. He also identifies and implements appropriate training plans for the shop floor staff to help foster a culture of employee collaboration.

Director of Engineering and Contracts, Mike Robotham is a Chartered Engineer and has been with the company for over 30 years. Having completed a Craft Apprenticeship he later joined the engineering department as a Junior Engineer. He has a wealth of experience working on medium to large, heavy engineering projects in the field of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic equipment.

Andy Howard is the newest member of the team having joined in January this year. Andy spent over 20 years working in various Senior Finance roles in engineering, steel and automotive industries.

The final member of the management team, Gordon Scott, Director of Sales and Marketing joined the company over 30 years ago as a Mechanical Design Engineer. Gordon has valuable skills in the areas of sales, engineering, contract and project management and has overall responsibility for all sales leads and the development of overseas markets.

The new team is confident that as order prospects increase the business will be in a good position to move forward in both existing and new markets. DavyMarkham has already made a positive start to the year after securing a major £10.6m contract at the latter end of February, for two double drum mine hoists. The hoists are to be supplied to the Eleonore Mine, situated in Quebec, Canada.
