DavyMarkham - Environmental Policy Statement
Since 1984 DavyMarkham Limited have continually identified and implemented the changes and improvements that are required to our operations to keep the Company at the forefront of good working practices. In recent years this has resulted in our realisation that our operations, however small, still ultimately have an effect on the wider environment and have a pronounced effect on our immediate areas of operation and especially on the local communities thereabouts.

In order to mitigate our impact on the environment as a whole we are committed to complying with all relevant environmental legislation at local, regional and national levels. We intend to use such legislation as minimum performance criteria. We are committed to continually improving our environmental performance through initiatives, controls, provision of resources and training of our employees, sub-contractors and key stakeholders. Our ultimate aim is to minimize the adverse impacts upon the environment from all our activities, products and services.

An Environmental Management System has been established which complies with the International Standard ISO 14001:2004. This system allows for the integration of environmental understanding and control into our other systems and procedures, under the direction of the senior management team with the support of all employees, suppliers and sub-contractors.

Management objectives and targets have been established and will be reviewed on a regular basis to implement this Environmental Policy, and these objectives and targets will be based upon a commitment to the six environmental principles of:
  • Prevention of pollution in all its forms.
  • Minimization of energy and material usage and the production of waste.
  • Effective and responsible waste management and disposal with specific objectives being: (a) Reduction of waste to landfill (b) Implementation of Site Waste Management Plans.
  • Promoting reuse and recycling of products and raw materials especially metals and waste packaging.
  • Maintaining a high awareness of environmental issues in the workforce.
  • Involving our key stakeholders such as suppliers, sub-contractors and customers in our environmental initiatives.
The effectiveness of the Environmental Management System will be monitored and maintained by regular audit and Management Review.

This Environmental Policy is communicated to all employees and made available to the public on request. The involvement of its workforce and external interested and affected parties in its Environmental Policy is encouraged through effective communication procedures.
