As well as supplying new equipment, DavyMarkham specialises in hoist repairs and refurbishments to improve safety, reliability and capacity. Dead weight brake systems can be replaced with spring applied hydraulically released brakes either by incorporating spring nest units into the calipers or, by fitting disc brakes using bolt-on disc brake paths. DavyMarkham designs and manufactures head sheaves for drum hoists and ground-mounted friction hoists, deflector sheave assemblies for tower-mounted friction hoists and return sheaves for haulage units and conveyor systems.

Expert knowledge ensures the minimum inertia compatible with operating requirements for any application.
Sheaves are fabricated and machined up to a maximum diameter of 12m and to suit any rope type and diameter. They can be supplied with plain rims or renewable inserts.
The use of inserts provides the advantages of giving longer pulley life and improved rope management, ensuring that rope slip does not occur during emergency braking.
