John Cheek appointed new Nuclear & Defence Director

Davy Markham is pleased to announce that John Cheek has joined the company as Nuclear and Defence Director. John has been employed in the nuclear power industry for 35 years; 14 years on advance gas cooled reactor new build and operations and 21 years in nuclear power plant decommissioning rising to Head of Engineering and Deputy Site Manager of the decommissioning site at Hunterston A. He worked in Canada on the restart of Bruce 1 & 2 and was Project Director for the Magnox Reactor Sites Strategic Alliance which provided operational support to the Magnox Stations. He built a speciality reactor and extreme environment decommissioning company which was acquired by a German nuclear manufacturer and introduced heavy walled ILW DCI containers to the UK. He recently led the recovery, in the USA, of the reactor internals and vessel removal at Zion. He has held several Director and Managing Director roles and brings nuclear and project management expertise to Davy Markham.
