DavyMarkham has been involved for many years in the provision of unique solutions to unusual mechanical handling requirements. In recent years we have provided several large pieces of mechanical equipment for the sub-sea electrical cable manufacturing industry.
These include: Cable stranding machines (for combining multiple conductors into a single twisted strand) of up to 1800 tonnes capacity; Cable storage turntables (for storage and payoff of single conductors and finished twisted cables) and degassing turntables, up to 2000 tonnes capacity.

We have also served the nuclear industry by supplying:

• Specialised rail mounted wagons for flask transport;
• Wall mounted manipulator mounts;
• Shield doors.

In support of our tunnelling machine interests we have produced:

• Bespoke screw conveyors;
• Tunnel lining segment manipulators.

	In the wider field of heavy manufacturing, DavyMarkham has been involved in the manipulation of large and heavy components, both during the manufacture and the installation processes, and as a result has: Designed and made unique handling aids for lifting components of up to 350 tonnes; Designed and made large transport frames for heavy and awkward components.
In various other fields, we have also been involved with rope haulage equipment, namely: Wagon transfer for nuclear flasks; Aerial ropeway for clayworks.
